BIRDER SAFARI BY 4WD
The Mecca for any ornithologist
Before the first daylight you will head off by 4WD to a colony at 15k from the village of Pellegrini.
Thanks to the particular landscape of open grassland and wetland, you will quite easily spot many species of birds. During the safari we usually remain in the truck which serves us as a hide-out, but a few species can also be spotted exploring by foot on one of the small jungle islands in the middle of the pampas.
Among the many birds you will see (350 species of birds habit the Wetlands), the most representative ones are the strange and streamer tailed tyrant, the jabiru, the yellow cardinal, the scarlett-headed and saffron-cowled blackbird, the black and white monjita, the golden-rumped euphonia, the black-capped donacobius, all kinds of seedeaters and the white woodpecker.
The Iberá Wetlands are definitely the spot where birders’ hearts beat faster and where many of their dreams come true.
The ideal starting point for excursions into the Iberá marshlands is the village of Colonia Carlos Pellegrini. At the entrance of the village that counts 500 inhabitants, you can easily find Irupé Lodge – named after a rare aquatic plant of the wetlands. The panoramic view of our park and the lake right out front, crowded with colourful birds, invites you to explore Argentina’s nature. The Lodge construction on poles ensures a natural and cosy atmosphere for unforgettably relaxing days. Moreover, the country-style designed and original rooms will help to make your holidays peaceful and exclusive.Let’s discover the Iberá Wetlands and Iguazú Falls with Irupé Lodge & Tours.
