OVERNIGHT SAFARI AND GAUCHO ADVENTURE
Gauchos, 4WD, Safari and a lot of Fun!
In the afternoon, we start from the wooden bridge of Irupé Lodge with our specialized wildlife guide. Silently watching for animals and birds we discover an area of the marsh where other boats hardly ever go. Thanks to this, we can observe very large caimans, mother caimans with babies, swamp deer, gray brocket deer, and maybe even a goffroy’s cat, anaconda or a turtle.
At a remote place in the middle of a private nature reserve we get off the boat and follow small and sometimes flooded paths on horseback. Shortly before getting to the camp site we’ll experience an unforgettable sunset in the middle of a Caranday palm tree forest (protected species). After a delicious barbecue we will hear the stories and anecdotes the gauchos love to tell while watching the fire. A night in the middle of the wetlands means a night full of strange noises and a star filled sky with a bright moonlight. You’ll probably wake up early and have the chance to get a glimpse at bird species you haven’t spotted yet during day light. Later, our horses will bring us safely along a beautiful landscape to the manor of an estancia where we can freshen up and enjoy a gourmet picnic.
Having made friends with the gauchos it will be good fun to challenge them throwing the lasso or in another one of their fun games. A short transfer by 4WD will bring you back to Irupé Lodge later.
The ideal starting point for excursions into the Iberá marshlands is the village of Colonia Carlos Pellegrini. At the entrance of the village that counts 500 inhabitants, you can easily find Irupé Lodge – named after a rare aquatic plant of the wetlands. The panoramic view of our park and the lake right out front, crowded with colourful birds, invites you to explore Argentina’s nature. The Lodge construction on poles ensures a natural and cosy atmosphere for unforgettably relaxing days. Moreover, the country-style designed and original rooms will help to make your holidays peaceful and exclusive.Let’s discover the Iberá Wetlands and Iguazú Falls with Irupé Lodge & Tours.
