HANDICRAFT CRASH COURSE
Fantastic handicraft produced by the locals
Where ever you go in Corrientes Province or especially in the Iberá Wetlands, you will witness the fantastic handicrafts the locals produce.
With raw hide they are able to make almost any of the gear they need for their work as gauchos (saddle, bridle, and lasso) but their gifted hands also create beautiful jewelry and belts.
Actually, they generally produce and use them for their own work and everyday life but have just recently realized that guests from abroad love to buy it as souvenirs too.
Guests interested in culture and arts will visit a gaucho’s home and see how he and his wife and children spend (rainy) days creating and weaving the raw hide they get from their own cattle.
They will teach you one simple technique and with their supervision you can create your own little souvenir like the traditional leather keychain.
This excursions is very good fun and very didactical for kids and teenagers too.
The ideal starting point for excursions into the Iberá marshlands is the village of Colonia Carlos Pellegrini. At the entrance of the village that counts 500 inhabitants, you can easily find Irupé Lodge – named after a rare aquatic plant of the wetlands. The panoramic view of our park and the lake right out front, crowded with colourful birds, invites you to explore Argentina’s nature. The Lodge construction on poles ensures a natural and cosy atmosphere for unforgettably relaxing days. Moreover, the country-style designed and original rooms will help to make your holidays peaceful and exclusive.Let’s discover the Iberá Wetlands and Iguazú Falls with Irupé Lodge & Tours.
