JESUITICAL HERITAGE AND UNESCO SITES
From the Esteros del Iberá to the Iguazú Falls.
This excursion makes your full day trip from the Esteros del Iberá to the Iguazú Falls a worthwhile and historically unique day.
Along the drive through the pampas of Corrientes and later the jungle of Misiones you will make several breaks to visit Jesuitical sites of former missions. Every mission along the way has something very special to offer; some of them are partly rebuilt and others remained almost as original as the colonists had discovered them around 1900.
The following UNESCO sites (since 1983/84) can be included in this excursion: San Ignacio Miní, Santa Ana, NuestraSeñora de Loreto and Santa María la Mayor.
For visitors especially interested in history and the Jesuitical-Guaraní relationship, we can additionally bring you to the sites on Paraguayan territory (Jesús, Trinidad and San Cosme y Damián) or the site in Brazil (Sao Miguel das Missoes).
This one day excursion can be extended to a two or three day tour.
The ideal starting point for excursions into the Iberá marshlands is the village of Colonia Carlos Pellegrini. At the entrance of the village that counts 500 inhabitants, you can easily find Irupé Lodge – named after a rare aquatic plant of the wetlands. The panoramic view of our park and the lake right out front, crowded with colourful birds, invites you to explore Argentina’s nature. The Lodge construction on poles ensures a natural and cosy atmosphere for unforgettably relaxing days. Moreover, the country-style designed and original rooms will help to make your holidays peaceful and exclusive.Let’s discover the Iberá Wetlands and Iguazú Falls with Irupé Lodge & Tours.
